FREEDOM CEMETERY is located between County Farm Road on U.S. 12 on the south side of the road about 5 miles east of Sturgis, Michigan behind a converter schoolhouse in Fawn River Township.

This cemetery is not maintained by the township even though it has been found they are charged with this responsibility and the the cemetery is in a deplorable condition at this time.

A debt of gratitude is owed to Lucian and Myrtle Tisdel for reading the stones in the cemetery in 1977 and providing these transcribers with copy to provide to the Michigan USGenWeb Project. Without them there would be no record of who lies buried there. There is a burial ground across from Freedom for indigent people who died at the County Farm but there is apparently no record of who lies buried there.
