Patrick, Richard W.....Lot 170, Sec 2, born 1813, died 1892 Note: taken from his obituary in the Burr Oak Acorn, week following his death, the following information. He was born 28 April 1813 in Walton, Delaware Co, New York and died at Burr Oak township, 30 January 1892. He was left practically alone at the age of 7 years. At age 18 he shipped out in a whaling vessel for 14 years in the South Indian Ocean. In October 1854, he married with Margaret Pine of Walton, New York, where they lived until 1858. Then they moved to Buchanan, Michigan and in 1859, they removed to Burr Oak. He is survived by two sons, George and William, both of Burr Oak and one daughter, Mrs Anna Drake of Detroit

She was born in Michigan City, Ind, May 29, 1921, a daughter of Albert and Ida (Bucholtz ) Meska, and had lived in Sturgis since 1945, coming from Three Rivers. She married John F Pinney on September 29, 1940 in Michigan City, Indiana. She worked in the Sturgis High School cafeteria nine years. She was raised in the Lutheran faith. Surviving are her husband, two sons, Jeffy Pinney, Centreville, and Steven Pinney, Ann Arbor; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Mark Pinney, Centreville; her stepmother, Mrs Myrtle Meska, Dowagiac; three sisters, Mrs Harry (Dorothy) Beach, Dowagiac; Mrs Donald (Margaret) Morgenstern, Roscommon; and Laura Meska, Battle Creek; a brother, Donald Meska, Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Melvin Meska, in March of 1980.
